Bourbons
Originating in the American South, Bourbon is one of several types of American Whiskey that has been distilled since the 18th century and survived the Prohibition era. For an American whiskey to call itself a bourbon it must have a mash bill that’s at least 51% corn, distilled at >160 proof, and aged in charred new oak barrels without any additives. Beginning as a way for poor farmers to make a living from their land, production of this drink moved down south into Kentucky where the namesake Kentucky Straight Bourbon sprung forth. Shaped by corn, white oak barrels, and a honeyed sweetness like no other, bourbon is a refined drink with a storied heritage. Discover new and exciting bourbons on Country Wine & Spirits today.
