Description

Jefferson's Tropics Aged in Humidity is a Kentucky straight bourbon with a well-traveled past. Founder Trey Zoeller likes to test how motion and climate change whiskey. For this one, he sent fully mature bourbon to the steamy heat of Singapore.

In July 2019, nine shipping containers holding 720 barrels left for Southeast Asia. The barrels rested for 18 months in storage with no climate control. They came back to Kentucky in March 2023. Zoeller then picked the final flavor and bottled it at 104 proof.

That tropical stay shows in the glass. You will notice warm baking spice on the nose, mostly cinnamon and clove. The palate brings ripe Bing cherry and rich toffee, plus a faint pinch of sea salt. The finish is long and full-bodied, with a lovely textured feel.

Judges have taken note. It won Gold at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. In 2023 it earned Gold from the Beverage Testing Institute, Platinum at the Ascot Awards and Gold at the John Barleycorn Awards.

Try it neat first, then with a little ice. For a fun cocktail, the brand mixes a Singa-Bourbon Sling with lime, curaçao, Benedictine and cherry. If you enjoy bourbons with a story, this bottle is a fine pick.
