This bourbon is crafted by the famous Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, and is named after Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr., one of the founding fathers of the modern bourbon industry. It proudly follows the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, a law that Colonel Taylor helped establish to ensure quality and authenticity. Bottled at 100 proof (50% alcohol), it meets the strict standards of this historic act.
Made with Buffalo Trace’s Mash Bill #1, which is believed to contain a low amount of rye, this bourbon is aged for at least four years, though many say it matures closer to seven or eight years. It is carefully aged in historic warehouses built by Colonel Taylor himself, adding a touch of tradition to every bottle. As a Small Batch bourbon, it’s produced from a limited selection of barrels to ensure consistent quality and rich flavor.
You’ll notice inviting aromas of caramel corn, vanilla, mint, sweet spices, and toasted oak. The taste is smooth and full-bodied, with layers of caramel, butterscotch, toffee, licorice, and rye spice, leading to a medium to long finish with notes of pepper, tobacco, oak, and cinnamon.
Highly awarded and often hard to find, it comes in a vintage-style canister and is best enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or with a splash of water.
