W.L. Weller Single Barrel Bourbon (750Ml)

Description

W.L. Weller Single Barrel is a wheated bourbon from Buffalo Trace, bottled one barrel at a time. Wheat takes the place of rye, which gives it a soft, rounded style. Every barrel ages a little differently, so no two bottles taste quite the same.

The distillery describes a nose of cherry and mint that slowly fades into vanilla. On the palate you get caramel and baking spice, with a hint of cocoa. The finish brings cinnamon, coffee and a little pepper.

It is bottled at 97 proof, or 48.5% ABV. It first came out in summer 2020 as a yearly release. Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2021 scored it 91.5 points.

Sip it neat, then add a few drops of water. Try it with smoked brisket, pecan pie or dark chocolate. If you collect wheated bourbon, this is a lovely bottle to track down.
