Four Roses Small Batch Select Bourbon (750Ml)

Description

Four Roses Small Batch Select is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 104 proof. Master Distiller Brent Elliott built it from bourbons aged six to seven years. It arrived in spring 2019 as the distillery's first permanent new bottling in more than 12 years. It now sits beside the standard Four Roses bourbon, Small Batch and Single Barrel.

The blend draws on six of the ten Four Roses recipes: OBSV, OBSK, OBSF, OESV, OESK and OESF. Together they use both house mash bills and three yeast strains, coded V, K and F. The whiskey is not chill filtered, so more of its natural texture reaches your glass.

Lift the glass and you will find raspberry, clove and nutmeg. On the palate, ripe apricot and berries meet vanilla and light oak. The finish lingers with spearmint and a light touch of cinnamon. The higher proof adds richer layers of fruit and spice, yet the spice stays mellow.

Judges have noticed, too. Its 2023 haul includes a Gold Medal from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The same year it took Gold at the American Whiskey Masters and at Whiskies of the World. It also earned Double Platinum at the Ascot Awards and 95 points from the Global Drinks Guide Ratings.

Pour it neat first so you can catch the fruit. A large cube opens up the spice a little. Four Roses also shares a Select Old Fashioned recipe, an easy way to enjoy it with friends. Serve it with grilled meats, roasted nuts or a square of dark chocolate.
