Hand-crafted in Amatitan, a small pueblo in Jalisco, Mexico, Tezcazul Tequila comes from what most consider to be the original birthplace of the beloved Mexican spirit. With rich, red volcanic soils and intense sunshine, the agave they source from this region is premium, flavorful, and organic tequila. After seven years of maturation, the piñas are harvested and then cooked in a traditional stone brick horno for approximately two days. The resulting pulque, or sweet nectar, is fermented in small batches to create their pure, base Blanco Tequila. Tezcazul Tequila Anejo is aged in Tennessee oak barrels for 24 months. Taking a cue from their reposado, Tezcazul anejo develops the flavors of their base blanco along with its own unique and inviting characteristics. On the nose of this dark copper-colored anejo is cooked agave, sweet oak, baking spices and fruitiness. The palate is full-bodied with notes of coffee, caramel, clove, ginger, cocoa, and hints of pepper and vanilla. The finish is long, with a more intense vanilla and heat slowly burning down. Savor this anejo neat and enjoy the richly assertive profile and comfortable heat.
