Don Julio 1942 is an Añejo Tequila, which means it is aged longer than Reposado, giving it a rich and smooth character. It is aged for at least 2.5 years (30 months) in American oak barrels, often previously used for bourbon, which adds depth and subtle complexity. The name “1942” honors the year Don Julio González, the founder, began his journey in tequila-making. Crafted in the Highlands (Los Altos) of Jalisco, Mexico, the tequila benefits from the region’s mineral-rich red clay soil. It is made from 100% hand-picked Blue Weber Agave, ensuring only the finest plants contribute to its flavor.

The tequila pours with a warm golden amber color and offers a rich, complex taste with notes of caramel, vanilla, roasted agave, and warm oak, accompanied by a long, satisfying finish. Its aroma features hints of caramel, vanilla, flowers, and brown sugar, reminiscent of fine cognac. Made in small batches, it is double-distilled in copper pot stills, with a special smaller still used for the 1942 and Real variants.
