Tequila Ocho began in 2008 when master farmer Carlos Camarena teamed with Tomas Estes to test the idea that terroir matters in tequila, the same way it does in wine. Spoiler: It does! Tequila Ocho focuses on single‑estate and single‑field lots, clear labeling of harvests, and traditional production methods so the agave’s origin shows through.

Over time, Ocho has expanded production while keeping that tasting‑led approach, and it now balances small‑batch craft with wider availability so drinkers can explore terroir without losing consistency.

Notable Bottles From Tequila Ocho

Tequila Ocho Plata

Because Ocho bottles often note the rancho and harvest year, Plata is a great learning bottle. It’s also a reliable mixer for classic cocktails where you want agave to be the star, not the wood. For a first purchase, Plata teaches you the brand’s core message without distraction.

Tequila Ocho Reposado

Ocho’s approach keeps the field identity clear, so the oak frames rather than hides terroir. This bottle works well in stirred drinks that need a little backbone and in neat pours when you want a gentler, rounder mouthfeel. If you like a balance of agave brightness and light wood influence, Reposado is the natural next step.

Tequila Ocho Añejo

This Ocho Añejo is aged longer and shows how time in cask deepens texture and length without erasing origin. Expect richer caramel and toasted notes that sit on an agave foundation, and choose this bottle for slow tasting or pairing with desserts. Ocho’s single‑field philosophy still applies, so an Añejo from one rancho can read differently from another - perfect for people who enjoy side‑by‑side comparisons.

Awards and Recognition

Tequila Ocho was named ‘The Distiller of the Year’ by ‘San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2005. Ocho co-founder and master distiller, Carlos Camarena, was given a medal for his contribution in the Tequila Industry from the President of Mexico! And, of course, bottles were given their flowers over the years.

Who Tequila Ocho is For

Tequila Ocho is for curious drinkers who want to learn how place shapes tequila and for hosts who want a reliable, interesting bottle for guests. When you bring out a bottle at parties, the label instantly impresses.
