About Ardbeg

Ardbeg is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky made on the southern coast of the Scottish island. Its licensed history began in 1815, when John Macdougall established the distillery as a commercial operation. After periods of closure and limited production, the distillery reopened in 1997, and full production returned soon afterward. Its comeback helped turn a historic local whisky into a modern favorite with an enthusiastic international following. Ardbeg Ten Years Old, launched in 2000, became the core expression, combining strong peat smoke with notable sweetness. Today, the range moves from younger, direct bottlings to richer whiskies shaped by sherry, bourbon, and other casks.
