Ron Zacapa XO Rum is an exclusive blend of reserve rums. What does that mean? Well, it means older and younger rums are blended as they age in a sequence of barrels that once held American whiskeys, Sherries, and Pedro Ximénez wines. The blend then gets its final rest in French oak casks that were once used for Cognac.

On the nose, toasted oak and burnt caramel meet dry roasted nuts, marzipan, and a twist of orange peel. A deep, yet delicate fruit note arrives at the end. As for the taste, you get more fruit notes. Sweetness, fruit, spice and spirit all sit in balance. The palate is long, smooth, and sweet, bringing dark cherry, chocolate, date, and prune alongside warm oak spice — think clove, vanilla, and cinnamon. It closes on lighter touches of dried mango, raspberry, and ginger.
