This whiskey is crafted by Irish Distillers at the famous Midleton Distillery in County Cork, and it sits proudly in the creative Method and Madness range led by both apprentice and master distillers. It is a Single Grain Irish Whiskey made from water, malted barley, and other grains such as corn, all distilled in a column still at one distillery.
The whiskey is usually sold in a 700 ml bottle, and some regions offer it in 750 ml, with a bold 46% ABV that still feels approachable. It matures first in American Oak ex-Bourbon barrels and then spends about twelve months in Virgin Spanish Oak casks from Galicia, which adds a fresh layer of flavor. This use of Virgin Spanish Oak is an exciting experiment for the distillery since it brings bright wood spice and warm toasted oak to the soft and sweet grain whiskey base.
Many describe its aroma as a mix of new pencil shavings, light rose petals, and the scent of fresh rain on pine. The flavor carries warm toasted oak, grapefruit peel, and lively spice, followed by a balanced finish of sweet cereal, clove, and mint. It is non-chill filtered and comes in a distinctive octagonal bottle that reflects the brand’s inventive spirit.
