This V.S. Cognac is crafted with care, and the youngest spirit in the blend is aged for at least two years in oak barrels. It comes from Maxime Trijol, a respected family-owned house founded in 1859, and the brand stands out because the family grows its own grapes, distils the spirit, and ages it on their own estate. They manage every step with precision, and their production includes several stills, such as about 22 Charentais copper pot stills of 2,500 litres each.
The main grape is Ugni Blanc, which offers high acidity and works beautifully for distillation. The aroma is strong, fruity, and floral, similar to the scent of blooming vines in early summer. The taste is smooth and buttery with hints of apple, pear, spice, vanilla, and a touch of nuts, while the color ranges from pale straw yellow to clear golden amber. It has a bright and lively character that feels refreshing and summery, and its balanced profile makes it ideal for cocktails, long drinks, or sipping neat.
The vineyards lie in the famous Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne regions, and the blend often includes small amounts of older Cognac for added depth. It is bottled at 40% ABV and usually presented in a tall curved bottle with a deep red label, sometimes paired with a gift box.
