This Cognac comes from Grande Champagne, the most prestigious area of the region, and it is known for producing spirits with exceptional depth and longevity. It is crafted by Maxime Trijol, one of the largest family-owned Cognac houses, and the brand stands out because it grows its own grapes and manages every step from distilling to aging to bottling.
The Cognac carries a VSOP label, which means the youngest spirit in the blend must be aged for at least four years in oak, yet this version includes a generous amount of much older eaux-de-vie, many believed to be between ten and twenty years old. It is made mainly from Ugni Blanc grapes and produced through the traditional Charentais double-distillation method in copper pot stills, and the distillery operates twenty-two stills in total. The spirit usually shows a rich golden color and opens with aromas of vanilla, spice, dried fruits, and soft floral notes.
The taste is smooth and full, offering flavors of apricot, vanilla, and gentle toasted oak, and it finishes with a long, warm, lightly spicy touch. It is best enjoyed neat, although it also works well in refined cocktails. The Trijol family has been rooted in the region since 1859, and their Cognacs have earned many international awards. The alcohol content is 40 percent.
