Description

Marca Negra Ensamble is a joven mezcal from Oaxaca, Mexico. "Ensamble" means it blends more than one kind of agave. Current batches use equal parts Espadín, Mexicano and San Martín, a karwinskii agave. Older bottlings paired Espadín with Bicuishe and Madrecuixe. Check your label to see which batch you have.

Maestro mezcalero Basilio Pacheco makes the current release in La Noria, Ejutla. Marca Negra lets each maker pick the bottling strength, so the proof moves a little by batch. This bottle sits around 48% ABV. It is unaged, so nothing stands between you and the agave.

On the nose you'll find citrus, wet stone and soft floral notes, with gentle smoke. The palate brings white pepper, ripe fruit and a clear mineral streak. A quiet, earthy sweetness runs underneath. The finish is long and warm, and it ends on that sweet, earthy note.
