Herradura Reposado was the world’s first Reposado tequila, launched in 1974, and it started the entire Reposado category. The word “Reposado” means “rested,” and this tequila truly lives up to its name. It’s aged for 11 months in charred American white oak barrels—far longer than the required two months—giving it a deep amber, honey-like color and a smooth, complex flavor. Made from 100% Blue Weber Agave grown on Herradura’s own plantations in Amatitán, Jalisco, Mexico, the tequila is crafted with great care from start to finish. The agave hearts, or piñas, are slow-cooked in traditional clay and brick ovens for 26 hours to develop rich, natural sweetness.
Fermentation uses wild, natural yeast from the air around the hacienda, adding a unique character to every batch. Distilled and aged at Casa Herradura, where the brand began in 1870, this tequila offers aromas of cooked agave, vanilla, warm wood, and hints of cinnamon or dried fruit. The taste is rich and smooth, with notes of roasted agave, caramel, vanilla, and butterscotch, balanced by a gentle spice. With 40% ABV (80 proof), it’s perfect for sipping neat, on the rocks, or in premium cocktails like Margaritas or Palomas. “Herradura,” meaning “horseshoe” in Spanish, symbolizes good luck and tradition spanning over 150 years.
