Grey Goose L'Orange takes the brand's French wheat vodka and adds the real essence of fresh oranges. The base starts with soft winter wheat from Picardie, often called the breadbasket of France. It is blended with limestone-filtered spring water from the brand's own well in Gensac, in the Cognac region.
The orange side is just as careful. The fruit comes from Florida, Brazil and New Guinea, picked through the year as each season peaks. Oils are pressed from the peel and then distilled twice under vacuum. That low-heat method protects the fresh flavor. More than two pounds of oranges go into every liter. There is no added sugar, and it is bottled at 40% ABV.
The nose is fresh and fruity, like peeling a ripe mandarin, with a faint floral touch. On the palate it feels full and fragrant. Zesty orange sits on a clean, smooth vodka base. The finish is fresh and gently warm, with a light peppery edge.
This is a natural fit for an orange Martini or a Cosmopolitan. You can also pour it over ice with soda and a slice of orange. A Screwdriver made with it tastes brighter than usual. Light seafood dishes and citrus salads are good partners at the table.
If you like your cocktails bright and not syrupy, you will reach for this bottle often.
