This sparkling wine known as Sonoma Brut comes from Sonoma County, California, mainly from the cool and breezy Carneros region. The winery was founded by the Ferrer family from Spain, owners of the world-famous Cava brand Freixenet, bringing with them over a century of sparkling wine expertise. Established in 1982 and opened in 1986, it became the first sparkling wine house in the Carneros region.
Sonoma Brut is crafted mostly from Pinot Noir (about 88–91%) with a touch of Chardonnay (9–12%), combining structure and elegance. It’s made using the Traditional Method, the same process used in Champagne where the second fermentation happens in the bottle. The wine is then aged on the lees for at least 18 months, creating a rich creamy texture and deep flavors.
As a Non-Vintage Brut, it blends wines from different years for a balanced and consistent taste. With an alcohol content of 12.5% ABV and a dry style (around 12.4 g/L of sugar), it offers aromas of pear, white flowers, and toasted almond or brioche. The palate is crisp and lively, showing notes of apple, citrus, and toast with a creamy finish.
The winery practices 100% sustainable farming and every grape is hand-picked to ensure the highest quality. Recognized as California’s most awarded sparkling wine house, Sonoma Brut continues to impress critics with 90+ point ratings year after year.
