This is an Añejo (aged) Tequila made from 100% Blue Weber Agave, grown in the highlands of Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico. The agave is slow-cooked in traditional stone and brick ovens, and then crushed using a large volcanic stone wheel, or tahona, to bring out a richer, more complex flavor. The tequila is double-distilled in copper pot stills and aged slowly in American oak bourbon barrels for 2–3 years, which is longer than the minimum one year required for Añejo. This careful process gives the tequila a gold to deep amber color and a balanced taste that combines sweet agave, gentle pepper, floral notes, and a soft oak influence. Its flavors include hints of jasmine, vanilla, oak, and cooked agave, making it rich yet smooth on the palate.
Produced at La Alteña Distillery in Jalisco, Mexico (NOM 1139), the production is overseen by a member of the Camarena family, including Master Distiller Carlos Camarena Curiel, ensuring traditional quality and consistency. Bottled at 80 proof (40% alcohol) in a 750mL standard bottle, this Añejo Tequila is perfect for sipping neat, enjoying on the rocks, or mixing into premium cocktails such as an Añejo Old Fashioned, making it a versatile and elegant choice for any tequila lover.
