This Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) Port from the 2018 vintage is crafted by Dow’s Port, part of the renowned Symington Family Estates. It is produced in the beautiful Douro Valley, Portugal, and comes in a standard 750ml bottle with an alcohol content of around 20% ABV. This Port is made from a blend of traditional Portuguese grapes, including Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Sousão, Tinta Barroca, and Tinta Roriz, all sourced from Dow’s top vineyards such as Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira.
The wine is aged in oak vats for four to six years before bottling, giving it a smooth and balanced character. It is full-bodied and rich, with Dow’s signature dry finish that makes it slightly less sweet than many other Ports. You’ll enjoy aromas of blackberry, blueberry, and mint, followed by flavors of black forest fruit, plum, and gentle peppery tannins.
This LBV Port is ready to drink straight from the bottle, with no need to age or decant, and it stays fresh for up to six to eight weeks after opening. Serve it slightly chilled, around 15–16°C, and pair it beautifully with dark chocolate desserts or aged cheeses like Cheddar or Manchego. Impressively, the 2018 vintage earned 93 points from Wine Spectator and was featured in their Top 100 Wines of 2024.
