This Tawny Port is a type of fortified wine made by Dow’s, a respected Port producer with over 200 years of history. The grapes are sourced from the beautiful Douro Valley in Portugal and the brand is owned and managed by the Symington family, known for their dedication to quality winemaking.
This wine is an average of three years old and aged in small oak barrels, which gives it a smoother and lighter taste compared to Dow’s Ruby Port, typically aged in larger vats. It has a lovely tawny amber-brown color and a rich aroma of nuts and caramel with subtle hints of ripe fruits like apricots and raisins.
On the palate, it feels velvety and nutty with well-balanced fruit flavors and a long, slightly dry finish reflecting Dow’s classic style. With an alcohol content of around 19% to 20%, this Port is ready to drink as soon as it’s bottled and doesn’t need additional ageing.
It’s best enjoyed slightly chilled (about 15°C to 16°C) and comes in a standard 750ml bottle. It pairs beautifully with nuts, dried fruits, soft cheeses, or creamy desserts like flan or crème brûlée. The bottle features a convenient T-cap stopper to help keep the wine fresh after opening.
