Don Julio Reposado Tequila

Don Julio Reposado is a "rested" tequila made from 100% Blue Weber agave. Most of that agave grows in the Highlands, or Los Altos, of Jalisco. The tequila is made at the La Primavera distillery in Atotonilco El Alto. It then rests for at least eight months in American white oak casks that once held bourbon. That is four times the two-month minimum for a reposado.

Those barrels give it a golden amber glow. The nose is soft and inviting, with mellow lemon, layered spice and ripe stone fruit. On the palate it feels gentle and elegant. Dark chocolate, vanilla and a light dusting of cinnamon come through. The finish is silky and warm. Dried fruit, nuts and a hint of caramel apple stay behind.

Don Julio González set down roots at La Primavera in 1942 and began making tequila there. His name is still on every bottle. Falstaff's tasting panel scored this Reposado 92 points in 2025.

In the US it is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof). Enjoy it neat or on the rocks to taste the oak. It also makes a lovely Paloma, Margarita or tequila Old Fashioned. Serve it with grilled meats, seafood tacos or a light dessert.
