Description
This Blanco (Silver) tequila is made entirely from Blue Weber Agave, usually sourced from the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico in the Los Altos region. Because it is unaged, it is bottled soon after distillation, allowing the pure fresh flavor of the agave to shine through. It serves as the base for all other Don Julio tequila types, including Reposado and Añejo. The taste is light, sweet, and crisp, while the aroma is fresh with subtle hints of citrus such as lemon, lime, and grapefruit. On the palate, it feels clean and dry with a gentle warmth and sometimes a touch of black pepper and grassy notes.
This tequila is double-distilled in stainless steel pot stills and is usually bottled at 40% alcohol (80 proof), though some markets may have it at 38%. Named after its founder, Don Julio González-Frausto Estrada, who began making tequila in 1942, the brand is now owned by Diageo plc. It comes in a unique rounded squat clear bottle and is considered a premium luxury tequila. It is perfect for classic cocktails like Margaritas and Palomas or for enjoying neat or on the rocks. Made and bottled in Atotonilco El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico, it offers an authentic taste of Mexican craftsmanship.
