This 2021 release by Clase Azul, in celebration of Dia de Los Muertos, is their first Single Estate Agave Tequila made from agaves exclusively sourced from a small mountain in Los Altos de Jalisco called "El Cerro del Viboreo." The decanter features golden artwork depicting Catrinas (elegantly dressed skeletons) enjoying a feast of the most iconic Día de Muertos dishes with a front is adorned with a handcrafted, gold-plated metal ornament made by Mexican artisans. This extraordinary tequila was created by blending an añejo tequila aged for more than 14 months in American whiskey casks with light and medium charring. The tasting notes also pay tribute to the flavors found in offerings for the holiday celebration.
The aroma is of candied orange peel, agave syrup, and almond. The flavor is complex with notes of citrus, clove, roasted coffee, and orange blossom, and a prolonged finish with an orange peel aftertaste. Enjoy this limited edition anejo neat in a tulip-shaped glass and pair with Goat cheese and orange marmalade tapas.
