Description

The Captain Morgan brand was founded in 1944 when Seagram Company first started producing rum under the name Captain Morgan Rum Company. Captain Morgan is distilled from sugar cane in column stills and is spiced, aged, and bottled. Seagram’s CEO Samuel Bronfman purchased Captain Morgan brand from the Jamaican government as well as the rights to a rum by a Kingston pharmacy that sourced its spirits from the same distillery, Long Pond Distillery.

Though Captain Morgan started selling in the United States in 1984 under new ownership, the brand was later sold to Diageo in 2001 and has remained under their brand since. Over the years, Captain Morgan has grown into one of the largest spirit brands on American soil and has shaped the world with the ever-expanding range of flavors and spices used. Captain Morgan Cherry Vanilla Rum captures the sweet essence of the nostalgic 1950s cola and ice cream floats.
