RUM CHATA FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Rum Chata is a cream liqueur that became highly popular in 2009. It’s made from a blend of 5-time distilled Caribbean rums with Wisconsin dairy cream and flavored with vanilla, cinnamon, and other fun and yummy secret flavors. This drink has become so popular that it is listed on many menus across the world. The chata part comes from the word Horchata which is made from ground almonds, sesame seeds, rice, barley, or tigernuts. Some of the extra unique flavors come all the way from Madagascar.

This drink can be used in delicious holiday desserts or just some really tasty alcoholic drinks. There is an endless amount of amazing holiday recipes that you can create with Rum Chata; for example: ‘RumChata Eggnog Latte.’ It’s made with 2 parts low fat eggnog, 2 parts RumChata, 2 parts steaming espresso, and nutmeg. To make it, you’d steam RumChata and eggnog in a pan or microwave, making sure to stir it constantly until the temperature reaches 140 degrees. Then pour it into a coffee much, add the espresso, and then dust with nutmeg. It’s quite delicious.

Another fun recipe just in time for the holidays is a ‘Gingerbread Martini.’ It’s made with 2 parts RumChata, 1 part Gingerbread Syrup (or Gingerbread Liqueur), 1 part vanilla vodka, and a gingerbread cookie. To make it, you will shake with ice and strain into a martini glass, and then garnish with gingerbread cookie crumbles. If you enjoy pumpkin, then you should definitely try a ‘pumpkin pie martini.’ It’s made with 2 parts RumChata, 1 part vanilla vodka, 1 part pumpkin syrup (or substitute 3 tbsp. pumpkin pie filling), and cinnamon. You will shake with ice and strain into a martini glass, and then sprinkle with cinnamon. When it’s really cold out on Christmas Eve, have a ‘RumChata cinnamon hot chocolate’ to soothe your body and make it warm. It’s made with 1 part RumChata, 1 part Jack Daniels Tennessee Fire, and 1 hot chocolate. Just combine all of the ingredients in a mug and sip it to keep warm and cozy. Whatever your drink of choice, make sure to add a bit of RumChata to the mix. The holidays are waiting for you to crack open a bottle. Enjoy.
