This Cabernet Sauvignon comes from The Prisoner Wine Company in Napa Valley. It carries the same bold spirit as The Prisoner Red Blend. That wine took its cue from the field blends of Italian immigrants who settled in Napa.

It is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, but the supporting grapes change with the vintage. The 2018 adds Merlot, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Malbec and Charbono. The 2021 leans on Syrah and Petite Sirah. Each vintage spends about 15 months in French and American oak. It is bottled at 15% ABV.

The nose is deep and dark. You will find ripe plum, black cherry, cassis and blueberry, with dark chocolate, vanilla and baking spice from the oak. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with plush dark fruit and firm tannins. The finish is long, with wild cherry, tobacco and a hint of spice.
