Templeton Rye was introduced legally in 2006, but its true history dates back to the early 1900s, when citizens of Templeton, Iowa bootleg distilled a rye whiskey that quickly became one of the most renowned and sought-after spirits in the area. Templeton Rye Special Reserve 10 Year Old Whiskey is their longest-aged spirit, and it was created in strictly limited quantities. These limited bottles were carefully hand selected and filled using a single-barrel technique, so different bottles may have a slight variety in flavor and aroma due to the differing barrels. Generally, this spirit has an sweet, welcoming nose of red fruit, with notes of cranberries, vanilla, and cinnamon. The palate is rich with fruit too, and has flavors of ripe cherry, baking spice, and lots of toasted oak.
