Sazerac Rye Full Proof is the high-strength version of the classic Sazerac Rye. It is made at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. This straight rye goes into the bottle at 125 proof. You get the whiskey much closer to how it tastes straight from the barrel.

Bold aromas come first: rye spice, fresh dill, smoky oak and warm spice. The palate then opens with a smooth sweetness that is surprising at this strength. Floral and herbal notes follow, backed by rich oak and classic rye grain.

The finish is lightly peppery. A late rye spice lingers gently, warm but never harsh. It carries real depth without wearing you out.

At 125 proof, it helps to add some water, a few drops at a time, and let it rest. It also makes a strong Manhattan or a classic Sazerac cocktail. In both, the rye holds its own against the vermouth or absinthe.
