In 2008 Portlandia was founded as he left his tech career and began anew in the wine industry. Ideal for Pinot varieties, the Willamette Valley of Oregon has rolling hills, iron-rich soils and cool sea breezes. Aiming to capture the best of the persistent and mesmerizing terroir, Portlandia works with meticulous and passionate growing partners. Portlandia Pinot Noir 2020 is crafted with hand selections from Willamette Valley including lots from McMinnville, Yamhill-Carlton and Dundee Hills AVAs. The blend is then aged for ten months in both French and American oak. On the nose are bright red berry aromas with a hint of cedar.
The palate is vibrant with flavors of cherry, cranberry, and strawberry with hints of black tea, thyme and peppercorns. The finish is long, structured, and refreshing, with fine-grained tannins and acidity. For pairing, the team at CWS suggests roasted duck with cranberry sauce or grilled salmon with toasted mushroom sauce.
