Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Reserve is a non-vintage champagne from France. The house was founded in 1976 in Chouilly, in the Côte des Blancs. It works with a cooperative of about 5,000 growers across the region. Today it is the best-selling Champagne brand in France.
The blend is 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay. Pinot Noir gives roundness and structure. Meunier adds fruit. Chardonnay brings elegance and finesse. The wine then rests three to four years in the house cellars before release. That time gives it a more mature, settled style.
In the glass it is pale gold, with plenty of fine bubbles. The nose brings juicy pear and crunchy apricot, with light floral notes. Almond and hazelnut sit softly underneath. On the palate it feels light, fresh and lively. The fruit is bright and expressive, with pear and a touch of citrus. A creamy mousse carries it along. The finish is fresh and balanced, with crisp acidity.
Judges have taken notice too. The house lists a Gold medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2024. It also won Gold at the Mundus Vini Spring Tasting 2025.
You can pour it as an aperitif or carry it through a meal. The house suggests prawns, smoked salmon or sea bass sashimi. Poultry, tapas and a cheese board work well too. Serve it well chilled, around 7 to 8°C before dinner. With food, let it warm a little, to about 10 to 12°C.
This is an easy bottle to keep on hand. You can open it for a birthday, a holiday toast or a quiet Friday night. It is fresh enough for new champagne drinkers and balanced enough for longtime fans. It also makes a kind gift for a host.
