Martell VS is a classic Cognac labeled Very Special, which means the youngest spirit in the blend is aged for at least two years. It is crafted by Martell, one of the oldest and most respected Cognac houses founded in 1715, and it follows strict AOC rules in the Cognac region of France. The standard bottle is 750 ml with 40 percent alcohol, and Martell uses only clear wines that are carefully filtered before distillation.
This gives the spirit a bright, clean base that supports its strong fruity aromas of plum, apricot, and candied lemon. The taste is smooth, rich, and gently warm, while the color shows a bright and clear gold. Many bottles also feature the label Martell VS Single Distillery, which means all the eaux-de-vie used come from a single distillation source. The Cognac is made mainly from Ugni Blanc grapes and aged in fine-grained French oak, often Tronçais oak, which adds soft spice and light wood notes.
It also reflects Martell’s signature style linked to the Borderies area, known for floral and nutty hints. This VS serves as Martell’s entry-level option, yet it offers reliable quality, broad versatility, and excellent value for everyday enjoyment.
