This cognac opens with warm spice. Think cinnamon and nutmeg, with toasty oak, toffee and stewed fruit. On the palate you find stem ginger and violets. Salted caramel and dark chocolate add richness. The texture feels soft and plush. The finish is very long, and ginger and violet stay to the end.

Meet L'Or de Jean Martell, the top blend from Martell. It is named after the house founder, Jean Martell. The cellar masters blend about 400 eaux-de-vie (aged grape brandies). Some of them are more than a century old. Many come from the Borderies, a small and prized part of Cognac. Grande Champagne brandies are in the blend too.
