Description
No home bar feels complete without Jack Daniel's. This is Old No. 7, the classic black-label bottle from Lynchburg, Tennessee. The distillery registered in 1866 and calls itself the first registered distillery in the US. Today this iconic American whiskey sells in more than 160 countries.
The mash bill is corn, rye and malted barley. The water is iron-free and comes from the limestone Cave Spring. The spirit is distilled twice. Then it drips slowly through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal before it goes into a barrel. That step, known as the Lincoln County Process, makes it a Tennessee whiskey rather than a bourbon. It is also why Jack tastes so smooth and round.
The whiskey ages in new, charred white oak barrels. Tasters decide when it is ready, not a calendar. Pour a glass and you'll smell dried fruit, oak and a delicate spice. The palate is well balanced, with caramel, vanilla, wood and more dried fruit. It ends with a dry finish that lingers.
The medals started early. Old No. 7 took gold for the finest whiskey at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.
Enjoy it neat, on ice or in a mixed drink. Jack and Coke is a classic, and so is a Lynchburg Lemonade. It makes a fine Old Fashioned too. Want something sweeter? Honey, Fire and Apple are in our flavored whiskey range. Serve it with BBQ, grilled meats or dark chocolate.
