Jack Daniel’s Sinatra Select honors Frank Sinatra, one of Jack Daniel's best-known fans. It was released in 2013 to celebrate a long friendship. The whiskey begins as Old No. 7, with the same mash of 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye. Old No. 7 is charcoal mellowed at the Lynchburg distillery. Each batch is then hand selected by the master distiller.

What sets it apart is the barrel. Sinatra Barrels have deep grooves carved into their staves. The grooves expose the whiskey to extra layers of toasted oak. That builds a bolder oak character and a dark, rich amber color. Whiskey from these barrels is mingled with classic Old No. 7 and bottled at 90 proof, or 45% alcohol.

The nose brings vanilla, brown sugar, sweet fruit and oak. On the palate, sweet vanilla and caramel meet rich oak, spice and a pleasant smokiness. It tastes bold yet very smooth. The finish stays smooth and full of vanilla, with a gentle trace of smoke.

The one-liter bottle arrives in a commemorative gift box. Inside, a booklet tells the story of Sinatra and Jack Daniel's. It makes a fine pick for gifting or for display on a home bar.
