Hine Rare is a VSOP Cognac, meaning the youngest spirit in the blend has been aged for at least four years. It proudly carries the Fine Champagne label, made only from grapes grown in the two best regions of Cognac — Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne. Although VSOP requires a minimum of four years, Hine Rare is usually aged between six and ten years, making it even older than some XO Cognacs.
This exceptional blend combines 20 to 25 carefully selected eaux-de-vie, chosen by the Master Blender for balance and depth. Made from white wines using mainly Ugni Blanc grapes, it’s double-distilled in copper pot stills and distilled “on the lees” for a richer, more complex flavor. The spirit then matures in French oak barrels from the Troncais and Limousin forests, developing a smooth and fruity taste instead of a heavy woody one.
Hine Rare offers aromas of dried apricot, pear, and nectarine, with touches of jasmine, vanilla, and oak. Its taste is smooth, mellow, and balanced, revealing notes of marmalade, candied ginger, spice, and chocolate. Elegant and refined, it’s best enjoyed neat in a tulip glass or in classic cocktails like an Old Fashioned. Founded in 1763, Hine remains the only Cognac house honored by the British Crown.
