Greenwing Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted by Duckhorn Portfolio, a well-known American winery famous for its outstanding California Cabernet and Merlot. Sold under the Greenwing label, this wine represents Duckhorn’s venture into Washington State winemaking. The grapes are sourced from the Columbia Valley, the largest wine region in Washington, known for its sunny days, cool nights, and minimal rainfall. These ideal conditions allow the grapes to ripen slowly, creating wines with rich and balanced flavors.
Made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon (around 78–85%, depending on the vintage), it’s often blended with small amounts of Merlot, Malbec, and Syrah to enhance color, texture, and smoothness. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 16–18 months, adding layers of depth and subtle oak spice.
In the glass, you’ll find bold and structured flavors of cherry, plum, raspberry, and blueberry pie, with hints of spice, cedar, and earthy notes. It offers bright acidity, smooth tannins, and lingering notes of red currant, pomegranate, or chocolate orange.
Inspired by the Green-winged Teal duck, native to the Columbia River Basin, this wine captures the lively, elegant spirit of the region. Priced around $15–$22, it pairs wonderfully with grilled beef, lamb, or rich poultry dishes.
