This Single Malt Scotch Whisky is carefully crafted and aged for at least 17 years, offering a smooth and refined character. It comes from the Glenfarclas Distillery, one of the few remaining family-owned distilleries in Scotland, proudly run by the Grant family. Located in the Speyside region, Glenfarclas sometimes identifies its whisky as a Highland malt, following the traditional classification.
This whisky is mainly matured in ex-Oloroso Sherry casks, the signature style of Glenfarclas, with a touch of spirit aged in ex-bourbon casks for added balance. It is known for its rich and complex flavor, showcasing a sherried sweetness that’s slightly lighter than the 15-Year-Old version. Bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof), it maintains its natural color with no caramel added, and is chill-filtered for clarity and consistency.
Originally created for travel retail and select markets like the US and Japan, this 17-Year-Old expression is now a rare find in Europe. Its aroma reveals notes of butterscotch, candied orange peel, dried fruits, oak, and a gentle hint of smoke. The taste is full and balanced, with flavors of sweet sherry, malt, baking spices, and chocolate, leading to a long, smooth, and warm finish. It beautifully bridges the freshness of younger whiskies with the depth of older Glenfarclas releases.
