Vintage Porto comes from a standout year in the Douro Valley, and you can taste it right away. Fonseca made this wine using grapes from its own top vineyards, picked by hand during a very dry season. That dry weather pushed the fruit to ripen with more intensity, giving you a Port built for long aging.
When you drink it, expect a full, rich mouthfeel. You’ll notice blackberries, dark cherries, and cassis first. Then come layers of plum, fig, dark chocolate, and a hint of spice. The tannins feel firm but polished, giving the wine structure without rough edges. It’s powerful, but it stays balanced.
On the nose, you get floral notes like violets, along with ripe dark fruit, cocoa, and subtle earthy tones. Everything feels focused and deep, not flashy.
The finish lasts a long time. Dark fruit and spice linger, with a gentle warmth that invites another sip.
You should decant this Port before serving, as it’s bottled unfiltered. Serve it slightly cool and take your time with it. If you enjoy wines that evolve and reward patience, this one belongs in your cellar.
