El Tesoro Reposado (750Ml)

Description

El Tesoro Reposado comes from La Alteña Distillery (NOM 1139) in the Jalisco Highlands. The Camarena family runs it, with Master Distiller Carlos C. Camarena in charge. The tequila is made from 100% blue Weber agave, with zero additives.

The cooked agave is crushed with a traditional tahona, a heavy stone wheel. The spirit is then double distilled in copper pot stills. Next it rests nine to eleven months in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. That is far longer than the two months a reposado needs. It is bottled at 40% ABV.

Pour a glass and you'll see a pale straw color. The aroma brings smoky oak, with hints of fruit, vanilla and a touch of dill. On the palate, oak and agave meet in a robust blend, lifted by smoke and pepper. The finish is pepper forward, with oak notes that stay a while.

Critics rate it highly. It won Double Gold at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It also scored 94 points at the 2021 Ultimate Spirits Challenge. In 2024, Tastings.com gave it 92 points and a Gold Medal.

Sip it neat or on the rocks to enjoy the oak and agave together. It also makes a fine Paloma or Tommy's Margarita. Serve it with grilled meats, tacos or a little dark chocolate. You'll love it if you want a reposado with real agave character and gentle oak.
