Duckhorn Vineyards is a renowned California winery founded in 1976 and has been producing Sauvignon Blanc since 1982. This wine is primarily made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes with a small amount of Sémillon added for extra depth and a silky texture, though the exact blend can vary by year.
The grapes are carefully selected from Duckhorn estates and top vineyards across California’s North Coast, including Sonoma, Napa, Lake, and Mendocino counties. The wine is mostly fermented in stainless steel with a small portion aged in new French oak barrels and spends about five months on the lees to enhance richness and complexity. It has a bright, crisp taste with lively acidity and a fresh pH, offering a well-balanced combination of sweetness and acidity.
Flavors are rich and elegant, featuring ripe citrus and tropical fruits like pineapple, guava, melon, key lime, and lemon verbena, sometimes with a subtle hint of minerals from the Sémillon. The texture is smooth and lively, and the finish is clean and refreshing. With around 14.1% ABV and a 750ml bottle size, this Sauvignon Blanc pairs beautifully with seafood, salads, or goat cheese, or can simply be enjoyed on its own as a bright, fruity, and elegant wine.
