This Añejo tequila has been carefully aged for 18 months in small batches, longer than the one-year minimum required for Añejo. It is matured in American white-oak barrels, often using former bourbon barrels, giving it a rich and smooth character. Made from 100% Blue Weber Agave primarily sourced from the Los Altos (highlands) region of Jalisco, Mexico, it captures the true essence of high-quality agave. The brand was founded by Don Julio González-Frausto Estrada in 1942 and is now owned by the global beverage company Diageo.
This tequila offers a unique and complex flavor with notes of cooked agave, wild honey, oak-flavored butterscotch, vanilla, caramel, and citrus fruits such as lime, grapefruit, and mandarin. Its aroma combines fresh citrus with a hint of caramel, while the finish is bright, slightly spicy, and rounded with wild honey notes. The color is typically light amber or golden with soft amber or mahogany highlights.
Best enjoyed neat in a snifter or on the rocks, it allows you to fully experience its aged character. It is also perfect for premium cocktails, including an Old Fashioned or an Añejo Margarita. Distilled in Jalisco according to official Tequila standards (NOM), it is usually bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), offering a balanced and elegant drinking experience.
