This Añejo (Aged) Tequila is made from 100% Blue Weber Agave and produced in Jalisco, Mexico, the heart of tequila-making. Crafted at Tequilera Puerta de Hierro (NOM 1477) in the Tequila Valley near El Arenal, its production is carefully overseen by Alberto Partida Hermosilla.
Añejo tequila is aged for at least one year, and the Don Alberto Añejo is aged for over 18 months, with some sources noting up to two years. During this time, it matures in American white oak barrels, which help develop rich and complex flavors. The agave is slow-cooked in traditional stone and clay ovens, known as hornitos, to bring out its natural sweetness and depth.
Bottled in a 750ml bottle with an alcohol content of 40% (80 proof), this tequila offers a smooth, well-balanced, and long-lasting finish. Its flavor profile is full of sweet cooked agave, red cherry, vanilla, oak, woodsy notes, caramel, and dried fruit, while tasting notes may include toasted oak, roasted pepper, tobacco, stewed fruits, and nutmeg. Part of the Gran Reserva de Don Alberto line, named after Alberto Partida, father of distillery owner Gildardo Partida Melendrez, it is best enjoyed neat or in premium cocktails by those who appreciate a mature, refined spirit.
