Decoy Wines, part of The Duckhorn Portfolio, is crafted in the beautiful Alexander Valley of Sonoma County, California. This red wine is made mostly from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, blended with a small amount of Merlot-usually around 90% Cabernet and 10% Merlot, depending on the vintage. Known for being bold, rich, and approachable, it's enjoyable both when young and after a few years of aging.
Each bottle is 750ml and typically contains 14.5% alcohol. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for about 14 to 15 months, which enhances its flavor and gives it a smooth, elegant finish. Decoy was founded in 1985 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn, following the success of their renowned Duckhorn Vineyards. Grapes are sourced from top vineyards in Alexander Valley, including Decoy's own Ridgeline and Brownell vineyards.
In the glass, you'll find deep, rich flavors of black cherry, blackberry, and plum, with touches of dark chocolate, vanilla, and sweet spice from the oak. The wine has soft tannins, a full body, and a long, smooth finish. Crafted under the expert guidance of Winemaker Dana Epperson, Decoy Cabernet Sauvignon pairs perfectly with grilled meats, roasted lamb, or hearty pasta dishes.
