Breckenridge Port Cask Finish (750Ml)

Description

Breckenridge Distillery sits high in the Colorado Rockies, close to 10,000 feet up. Its small-batch bourbon is a high-rye blend of 56% corn, 38% rye and 6% barley. Mountain snowmelt water is part of the story.

For this bottle, the bourbon is finished in 59-gallon Tawny Port casks from Portugal. The rich port wine soaks into the wood, then into the whiskey. It rounds out the rye's natural spice.

You'll smell sultana raisin and maple syrup, with dark fruit behind them. Plum and cherry join on the palate, along with that warm rye spice. The finish stays spicy, but the port softens and sweetens it.

It has a strong record with judges. The World Whiskies Awards named it World's Best Finished Bourbon in 2024. That same year, the New York International Spirits Competition scored it 96 points and a Double Gold. Back in 2017, the World Whiskies Awards named it Best American Blended.

Pour it neat or with a few drops of water. It makes a fruity Old Fashioned or Manhattan, too. Serve it with dark chocolate, dried fruit or a rich cheese. It's a fine gift for any whiskey fan who enjoys a wine-cask twist.
