Arran Single Malt Scotch Whisky Port Cask Finish (700Ml)

Description

Arran Port Cask Finish comes from the Isle of Arran, off Scotland's west coast. The single malt first spends about eight years in traditional oak casks. It then moves into casks from an artisan Portuguese port producer for a final rest. Arran bottles it at 50% ABV, without chill filtration and with natural color.

That finish adds fruit and warmth to the fresh, lively house style. The distillery manager looks after the second maturation, checking the casks until the balance feels right.

Nose the glass and you will meet vanilla and gentle spice, bright citrus, dried fruit and a nutty edge. A drop of water brings out mandarin, fudge and honey. On the palate, layers of fruit and spice unfold, led by baked apple with cinnamon. A touch of strawberry jam appears as it opens. The finish is all about barley sweetness, which runs through every layer.

Arran calls this an after-dinner dram, and it fits that role well. Set it out with a cheeseboard and enjoy it slowly. Pour it neat first, then try a little water to see how it changes.
