Arran Single Malt Scotch Whisky Amarone Cask Finish (700Ml)

Description

This Arran single malt is made at the Lochranza Distillery on the Isle of Arran, off Scotland's west coast. It first matures for several years in traditional oak casks. Then it finishes in hand-selected casks that once held Amarone wine from Italy's Veneto region.

Amarone della Valpolicella is a dry red made from partly dried Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes. That rich wine leaves its mark on Arran's fruity spirit. Deep berry fruit settles over the distillery's orchard character.

It is bottled at 50% ABV, with no chill filtration and natural color. The higher strength keeps the texture full and the flavors bold.

On the nose, ripe cherry meets Turkish delight and chocolate. The palate brings poached pears, a touch of cranberry and honey. Spicy oak, dried fruit and a gentle nuttiness fill it out. The long, warming finish leaves sweet pear, cherry, Turkish delight and dark chocolate.

Start with it neat. After that, a few drops of water will open up the fruit and spice. Take your time, since it keeps changing in the glass.

Serve it with aged Parmesan, dark chocolate, roasted hazelnuts or cured meats. If you enjoy wine-finished single malts with plenty of fruit, this bottle is well worth a pour.
