Description

Arran 10 Years Old is the flagship single malt from the Isle of Arran. It shows the bright, fruity side of island whisky. Most of the spirit matures for ten years in bourbon casks. A portion then spends around nine months in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks before it is all vatted together. It is bottled at 46% ABV, at natural color and without chill filtration.

Nose it slowly and you'll find candied citrus and honey. Softer notes of liquorice and butterscotch sit underneath. On the palate, round citrus meets sweet oak and fresh apple. The finish brings sweet spice, hazelnut and cinnamon. It stays long, clean and fresh.

This dram picks up medals almost every year. It was a Category Winner at the World Whiskies Awards 2025. At the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2024 it took Best of Class with 98 points. The International Wine & Spirit Competition gave it a Gold Medal with 96 points in 2023. It also won Gold at the Scottish Whisky Awards in 2023 and 2025.

Start with it neat in a tulip glass. Then add a few drops of water and see how the citrus opens up. One large ice cube works on a warm evening too.

At the table, try it with smoked salmon, aged cheddar or shortbread. An apple tart picks up the fruit nicely. It's a friendly first single malt for newcomers, and longtime Scotch fans keep coming back to it.
