Arette Artesanal Fuerte Blanco is a strong, unaged tequila from the town of Tequila in Jalisco. It is made at El Llano, a family distillery founded in 1900. Eduardo and Jaime Orendain launched Arette there in 1986. "Fuerte" means strong, and it is bottled at 101 proof.

Ripe Blue Weber agave cooks for 48 hours in stone and brick ovens. The juice ferments in open-air concrete tanks, then is distilled twice in copper pot stills.

On the nose you'll find cooked agave, black pepper and bright citrus. A green, earthy edge sits underneath. The palate brings agave, more pepper, citrus and roasted vegetal notes. The finish is long and warm.

The extra strength means flavor holds up in a drink. It makes a bold Margarita or Paloma that still tastes of agave. Fish tacos and ceviche are easy food matches.
