Add a little bit of fun to your bourbon with some delicious cocktails;
A ‘Bufala Negra’ is an interesting drink with some wild flavors; it’s made with 4 basil leaves, 1 tsp. aged balsamic vinegar, ½ oz. simple syrup, 1.5 oz. bourbon, 1.5 oz. chilled ginger ale, and ice. In a cocktail shaker, muddle 3 of the basil leaves with the simple syrup and vinegar; add ice and the bourbon, and then shake well. Strain the drink into an ice-filled rocks glass; stir in the ginger ale and then garnish with the remaining basil leaf for added color.
If you like Texas, then you will surely enjoy ‘The Big Texan Bourbon-and-Grapefruit Cocktail.’ It’s made with 2 tbsp. of fresh grapefruit juice, 1.5 oz. bourbon, ½ tbsp. simple syrup (boil equal parts sugar and water, but cool before using), 2 basil leaves, 1 grapefruit slice and 1 preserved cherry for garnish. In a cocktail shaker, combine the grapefruit juice, bourbon, simple syrup, and basil. Fill a chilled rocks glass with ice; add 5 ice cubes to the shaker and shake well. Strain the drink into the ice-filled rocks glass, and then garnish with the grapefruit slice and cherry.
For a drink that was based on the 1930’s Bobby Burns, enjoy ‘The Bobby Boucher.’ It’s a lovely drink to make for friends. It’s made with 1 orange twist for garnish, ¼ oz. cherry Heering (cherry liqueur, 2 oz. overproof bourbon, ¼ oz. Benedictine (brandy-based herbal liqueur, ½ oz. Carpano Anitica Formula or other sweet vermouth, and ice. Fill a chilled pint glass with icel add all of the ingredients except the garnish, and then stir well. Strain it into an ice-filled coupe, pinch the orange twist over the drink, and then drop it in really fast. Have a great party.
