Halloween is here and is welcoming you yummy alcoholic treats. There is something for everyone, even for kids if you swap out the alcohol with other fun ingredients. One tasty treat is the ‘spellbound.’ You can make it in the comfort of your own home by rimming a martini glass with sprinkles. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine 1 oz. apple juice, 2 ounces Pinnacle Atomic Hot Vodka, and 1 oz. DeKuyper Pucker Sour Apple Schnapps. Shake and strain into prepared martini glass, and then garnish with a lime wedge. It’s pretty and green. You can make a similar drink for your children with just a green cool aid to make it look the same. Add smoke with dry ice around the drink for a little bit of fun and spooky effect. Don’t forget to try a ‘bloody bitter.’ In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, you will combine ¾ ounce rye whiskey, 2 ½ ounces Inniskillin Cab Franc, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Shake and strain into a medium sized glass, and then garnish with a cute little marshmallow ghost. For a fancy adult drink, try ‘Rich’s Brew.’ You will place 6 large ice cubes in a large wine glass. Add 2-3 slices of blood orange, and then finish with chilled Veuve Clicquot Rich. It’s a pretty and tasty drink for all to enjoy. Halloween is all about the spooky effect, so be sure to make a ‘Vampire’s Weakness’ this year. You will add 1 ¼ parts Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey, 1 part Campari, and 1 part sweet vermouth to a mixing glass, and then fill it with ice. Stir to chill and dilute the cocktail, then strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a bloodied eyeball (marshmallow with a blueberry for an eye). You can stick a toothpick through the marshmallow so it will stay on top of the glass. Enjoy this year’s festivities with a yummy cocktail treat.
